
ABOUT
RM Idol is an annual singing competition and fundraising event put on by Fine Lines Literary Magazine, of which I was editor in chief of from 2020 to 2022.

It is one of the premier traditions of Richard Montgomery High School, of which, as EIC, I had the task of planning and putting on 2022 school year with 18 contestants, 2 emcees, and an opening number.

Per each contestant , we coordinated lighting, physical tech (pianos, mics, amps, etc.) and music tracks via the sound booth. Each contestant's choices varied depending on song, we I worked closely with the tech booth and singers to make sure each transition between acts would work smoothly and cohesively.

TECH PROCESSES

Dry rehearsals additionally took place for all contestants about a week prior to the final show to ensure a smoothly run production (working out volume issues, lighting issues, etc).

I additionally wrote a script for all production teams, including the emcees, which can be seen below.

In the end, a crowd of over a hundred parents, students, and faculty came to watch the performance., which went on without a hitch. There were additionally refreshments provided, which could be bought during intermission to raise money for the yearly issue of our literary magazine. A karaoke raffle was additionally held to invite audience members on stage to sing while judging was taking place.

CONCLUSIONS
This project taught me how to manage a large variety of different teams to work to create a larger project. Since finishing this project, I feel as though I have new understanding of collaboration among large teams, as well as a deep appreciation for the RM Idol and Fine Lines organization.
